Batik Arts Workshop, Hollywood, Florida: Saturday, September 17, 2016

This 3 hour workshop is partly Artsy, partly Foodie and majorly Social! The artsy part gives you a chance to explore, get creative, unleash your inner Artist by working with dye paints on a pre-waxed (resist), pre-stretched 12×12 canvas! You will be creating your own beautiful BATIK piece to bring home.

What is BATIK? … In Indonesia or Malaysia, Batik is part of an ancient tradition. The word batik originates from the Indonesian ‘tik’… Which means to DOT … Munirah will guide the painting session & you will learn the technique to paint batik using different color dyes (7-9pm)

The second part is for you to enjoy a full hour (6-7pm) of tastings of Malaysian cuisine & mingling. So, Bring your cool crew for a new cultural appreciation — Make it a happy hour thing!

All supplies are provided

CREATE your own beautiful handpainted BATIK masterpiece (Reggae inspired design) to bring home — so much FUN and it’s a wonderful way to celebrate music, nature and cultural beauty.

There’s no experience necessary and we’ll provide all the supplies, so you don’t have to worry about a thing except having a great time!

For those of you who haven’t had Munirah’s cooking, this is your chance! Munirah is cooking up a truly authentic, three-course Malaysian meal for us, showcasing Malay heritage cuisine and incorporating lots of aromatic Asian herbs and spices.

Gather around our communal table in enchanted tropical landscape of a Coconut Grove cottage and indulge in the experience of good food, good drink, great people and incredible sights of Bodypaintography works.

MENU:
NASI LEMAK on a banana leaf — Delicious Malaysian coconut rice, served with anchovy hot chili sauce, crispy fried anchovies, fried peanuts, sliced cucumber and hard boiled egg (photo: above)

PRAWN CURRY LAKSA BOWL
served with yellow noodles. This hearty Southeast Asian noodle soup is spicy and bursting with flavors, Be prepared for a pleasant surprise with this noodle dish in coconut curry broth.

CENDOL this rich, creamy dessert is delicious and refreshing. The flavor profile is based on the holy trinity of Southeast Asian dessert ingredient of coconut, pandan and palm sugar.
Munirah Rimer is an Artist-Chef whose food represents a tribute and a commitment to the authenticity of the cuisines of her birthplace Malaysia. She grew up in Kedah (northern Malaysia), attended boarding school in Kuala Lumpur, and later received her tertiary education in Miami.

She brings these exciting flavors, passion for herbs and spices and culinary knowledge to her Pop Up event. She is also a freelance Batik Arts educator in South Florida. She is passionate about creating beautiful cultural experiences through these exotic flavors and through her colorful Batik Arts workshop.

Gentle Yoga & Malaysian Brunch Pop Up: Sunday, March 12, 2017

There’s nothing better than killing two birds with one stone, especially when it comes to food and physical awareness.

Munirah Rimer of Teratai Malaysia, Big Dreams Goode Vibes & Cynthia Fleischmann Gallery are hosting a Malaysian Brunch & Yoga Pop Up party, ‪Sunday, March 12th.‬

You will get to indulge in Malaysian Roti Jala, Nasi Lemak, Pandan Chiffon Cake and Organic Frangipani Flower Tea after a full hour of yoga practice. Tickets are $36.

Yoga starts at 11am. Brunch ‪will be served around 12:30 Noon‬. BYOB. What else do you need to bring? A yoga mat and/or towel, open hearts and big appetites! :))

Menu details:
Malaysian Nasi Lemak
Nasi Lemak is a dish that comprises rice made fragrant with coconut cream and pandan leaves. A light meal that is traditionally accompanied by fried anchovies, sliced cucumbers, roasted peanuts, boiled egg and anchovy sambal.

Roti Jala (Malaysian Lacy Pancake)
Roti Jala also known as Roti Kirai or “Lacy pancake” in English is a popular Malaysian tea time snack served with two types of curry dishes (Dal curry & Chicken curry).

Pandan Chiffon Cake
Pandan cake is a light, fluffy sponge cake of Malaysian and Indonesian origins with Dutch influence, flavored with the juice of Pandan leaves.

Organic Frangipani Tea
Frangipani flower tea has a beneficial cooling and relaxation effect and is good for digestion. Our dried Frangipani flower comes directly from Malaysia.
