Online Batik Tjanting Workshop in September 2024 (Course Only, No Materials)

I’m so excited to once again present my Online Batik Tjanting Workshop! This comes with three (3) one-hour batik sessions with me via Zoom plus an emailed PDF for the course.

Workshop Curriculum

Session 1: Tjanting technique, tools and tips. You will produce your own hand-drawn batik tulis piece.

Session 2: Painting and wax removal. You will progress to painting your piece as well as learning about the chemistry in textile dyeing! Two wax removal methods will be taught – ironing and boiling water.

Session 3: You will create a West African Bogolan/mud cloth-inspired batik piece. You will learn the vat dye process.

Session Dates: Three dates in September and October 2024 – Sunday, September 22, 2024, Sunday, September 29, 2024, and October 6, 2024 at 4 PM Eastern.
