Batik Hoop Painting Kit – CNY Snake

This is Snake design from my Chinese New Year – Year of the Snake series is now available as a DIY kit. With this kit, I stretch the fabric onto 10 inch bamboo hoops and then tjanting with the hot wax melted at 225 degrees. People don’t take time to make batik kits by hand any more because they can simply stamp patterns on the fabric so what I do is unique because I do everything by hand. These are truly artisan products.

I make these in my home studio in Aventura, Florida. The 100% cotton fabric in this kit is 11 inches by 11 inches square.

This kit offers an opportunity to relax and enjoy the traditional art of batik painting in the comfort of your home. It is a fantastic learning tool and is also a great gift suitable for both children and adults. It’s also a great therapeutic activity for families and groups.

-soda ash powder
-four assorted colors of Procion fiber reactive fabric dye
-two brushes
