Together we will create and paint a batik handkerchief (your choice of designs) while learning about batik techniques and tools from around the world.
Whether you’re an artist, a newbie, or a textile lover you are sure to learn something new about this ancient textile art of batik.
We will start with a short intro to the world of batik where I will introduce you to the tools I use from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Vietnam. That will be followed by an introduction to chemistry in textile dyeing. We’ll be painting on a 100% cotton handkerchief mounted on a 10″ hoop. Each design is pre-waxed by Munirah.
Painting on fabric with dye is very fun, therapeutic, and satisfying. More importantly, this is your time to slow down, relax for two hours, and connect with your inner Bob Ross. Munirah will guide the way.
Plus there will be a nice selection of wine (by the glass or bottle), beers, and non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase.
A wonderful, one of a kind Miami vacation souvenir without having to fly 10,000 miles.
We will conduct our workshop at The Vintage on Harrison, a local wine bar with a nice selection of food in Hollywood, Florida. The Vintage on Harrison features wine from small producers that represent a special place
You won’t be too far from the beaches of Hollywood and you’ll be right in the middle of Downtown Hollywood.
