Black Hmong Tribe Tjanting With Video Tutorial
$39.00
I have used this tjanting tool for several years. In fact I have used it for every piece of tjanting work that I produced ever since I brought mine back from Sapa, Vietnam.
The hill tribes of Laos, Vietnam , Burma and Thailand originally migrated from China. One of the six major hill tribes, the Hmong carried with them their knowledge of batik, decorating their clothing today very similar to the way the Miao in south west China have done since the Qin dynasty. Both the Blue Hmong of Laos and the Black Hmong of Vietnam draw symbols on hemp cloth, applying wax with this tjanting tool, before dyeing in an indigo dye bath.
Choose your favorite tjanting tool by number. Sample lines from each tjanting are underneath each tjanting shown in the photos. Handles are approximately six inches long.
Each purchase also includes a private link to a prerecorded video tutorial I produced! Previous batik experience including the use of a tjanting is highly recommended.
Includes free shipping within United States.
Tjantings that have been sold will be greyed out in Tjanting Choice dropdown.
