I really take pride in showing people what it’s like to batik so from the beginning stage of making the wooden frames to stretching the fabric and tjanting with the hot wax at 225 degrees, so much is focused on creating an authentic experience even though the process is time consuming. People don’t take time to make batik kits by hand any more because they can simply stamp patterns on the fabric so what I do is unique because I do everything by hand. These are truly artisan products.
I make these in my home studio in Aventura, Florida. Each wooden frame is 14 inches by 14 inches. The fabric is 100% cotton.
This kit offers an opportunity to enjoy the traditional art of batik painting in the comfort of your home. It is a fantastic learning tool and is also a great gift suitable for both children and adults. It’s also a great activity for families and groups.
The kit comes with everything you need including:
-soda ash powder
-six assorted colors of Procion fiber reactive fabric dye
I am also available to teach you as you batik via Zoom video conferencing.
